Abstract: Coastal erosion is a natural phenomenon
occurs along to Vietnamese coastline as well as other countries around the
world, where the coastal process is occurring. However, climate change and
human activities cause this problem more seriously. In this paper, the authors
used remote sensing methods combined with field survey, and previous studies to
investigate erosion mechanism of Doi Duong beach, Phan Thiet city. MIKE 21
software was also applied to assess the impact of wind, wave, and tides on process
of coastal erosion. The results showed that, potential erosion mainly caused by
waves and wind which occur in the period of 2 monsoons. Based on the studied
results and the tourism use, authors have proposed method of beach nourishment
for coastline protection in this area.
